Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week kicks off today and will soldier on through Sunday, July 5th, all to take place in the heart of the capital city at the historical Bebelplatz (aka the site of the book burning ceremony held in 1933 by the Nazis). ANYWAY. Two interesting events to note: BOUDOIR, a lingerie/body-wear trade fair, and thekey.to, fair which focuses primarily on environmentally-friendly and sustainable clothing.
Can I just say how much I love all the prolific mentioning of various DJs (Mmmsss! Mmmsss! Mmmsss!) who will be on the scene: (DJ Genescratch, The Subs, etc. etc.)—très German, I love it. As for actual labels set to showcase and/or available for purchase: AVR van Reimersdahl, Reinberger Berlin, Schmuck Rainer Wiencke, Bingel & Ahl, Kimberit, Bianca Bannach, Frida Weyer, von Wedel & Tiedeken, Zeha Berlin, Esther Perbandt, Majaco, Franzius, Seelenkleid by Ella Haberlach, QED and Kilian Kerner for Komodo, among others.
And what’s a Berlin Fashion Week without tasty morsels of expert German engineering?! Yes, there will also be a “special form of shuttle service” provided for the event: classic cars such as the Alfa Bertone, Mustang II, Lotus Eclat, Porsche 912 and Alfa Berlina will be made available to oh-so-special guests as “shuttle service vehicles.” Whatever that means. All you other lowly people, park your Jetas with the frat boys in the back.
